Seek the truth at all costs: A call for the release of Zhang Zhan on the first anniversary of her detention

“We should seek the truth and seek it at all costs. Truth has always been the most expensive thing in the world. It is our life.”

These are the words of the brave Chinese citizen journalist and former lawyer Zhang Zhan. For her, seeking the truth meant travelling to China’s Wuhan in February 2020, right at the outset of the COVID-19 pandemic. There, she published videos and articles reporting on the crisis to both Twitter and YouTube, both of which are blocked in China.

Zhang’s reporting, and particularly her questioning of whether the Chinese authorities’ response to the pandemic had infringed on human rights unsurprisingly provoked the ire of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). On 14 May 2020, a year ago today, she was seized by Shanghai police in her hotel room in Wuhan and taken to a detention centre in Shanghai.

She subsequently spent seven months in detention, during which time concerns were repeatedly raised over her health and wellbeing – particularly as she remained on hunger strike in protest of her treatment.

Cherchez la vérité à tout prix : Un appel à la libération de Zhang Zhan à l’occasion du premier anniversaire de sa détention

« Nous devons chercher la vérité et la rechercher à tout prix. La vérité a toujours été la chose la plus précieuse au monde. Elle est/représente/symbolise toute notre vie ».

Ces mots ont été prononcés par la courageuse « journaliste citoyenne » chinoise et ancienne avocate, Zhang Zhan. Pour elle, être à la recherche de la vérité signifiait se rendre à Wuhan, en Chine, en février 2020, au tout début de la pandémie de COVID-19. Une fois sur place, elle a mis en ligne sur Twitter et YouTube – tous deux bloqués en Chine – des vidéos et des articles relatifs à la crise.

Les reportages de Mme Zhang, et en particulier ses interrogations sur la question de savoir si la réponse des autorités chinoises à la pandémie avait porté atteinte aux droits humains, ont, sans surprise, provoqué l’ire du Parti communiste chinois (PCC). Le 14 mai 2020, il y a un an, jour pour jour, elle est arrêtée par la police de Shanghai dans sa chambre d’hôtel à Wuhan et emmenée dans un centre de détention à Shanghai.

Elle a ensuite passé sept mois en détention, période au cours de laquelle sa santé et son bien-être ont suscité des inquiétudes à plusieurs reprises, d’autant plus qu’elle poursuivait une grève de la faim pour protester contre ses conditions de détention.

Busca la verdad a toda costa: Una llamada para la liberación de Zhang Zhan en el primer aniversario de su detención

“Debemos buscar la verdad y buscarla a toda costa. La verdad siempre ha sido la cosa más cara en todo el mundo. Es nuestra vida.”

Estas son las palabras de la valiente periodista china y ex abogada Zhang Zhan. Para ella, buscar la verdad significó viajar a Wuhan en China en Febrero del 2020, al principio de la pandemia de COVID-19. Desde allí, publicó videos y artículos reportando detalles sobre la crisis, desde plataformas como Twitter y YouTube, aún cuando habían sido bloqueadas en China.

Como era de esperarse, el reportaje de Zhang -y sobre todo sus preguntas de si las autoridades chinas habían infringido algunos derechos humanos en sus respuestas sobre la pandemia, provocó la ira del Partida Comunista de China (PCC). En el 14 de mayo de 2020, hace un año este día, Zhang fue arrestada por la policía de Shanghái en su hotel en Wuhan y trasladada a un centro de detención en Shanghái.

Después de este evento, Zhang pasó siete meses detenida, tiempo durante el cual surgieron repetidas preocupaciones por su salud y bienestar – sobre todo porque ella se mantenía en una huelga de hambre como protesta por el trato que estaba recibiendo.

寻求真理，不计成本 —在张展被捕一周年之际呼吁释放张展

“当然应该寻求真理，不计成本地寻求。真理一直是这个世界最昂贵的东西，它就是我们的生命。”

这两句话，是勇敢的中国公民记者、前律师张展写下的。她为了寻求真理、真相，在2020年2月去了当时因疫情爆发而一夕封城的武汉。她在疫区坚持工作三个多月，在推特、油管发布了很多有关武汉疫情的视频和文章。但她作为公民记者的独立报道，尤其是她质疑当局的某些防疫措施涉嫌侵犯人权的言论，到底触怒了执政党。

一年前的今天，2020年5月14日，张展被上海警方跨境抓捕，从武汉旅馆的房间被带到上海羁押。之后长达半年，她在浦东拘留所持续绝食抗议，遭到强制灌食等酷刑，健康情况恶化，引起外界广泛的关注与担忧。12月28日，在短短两个多小时的庭审之后，张展被当庭宣判：当局以被法律界称为“口袋罪”的“寻衅滋事罪”名义将她判囚四年。张展的两位代理律师均遭受当局施压、骚扰，其中一位在她被判刑后不久被吊销律师执业证。据悉，张展被判刑之后仍持续半绝食，以抗议当局对无辜公民的司法迫害、对言论自由的打压。

张展不惜代价寻求真相、真理的举动遭到中共当局的严厉报复，这是毫无悬念的事。在习近平为首的中共治下，中国的人权状况（包括宗教信仰自由权利）发生了迅速、严重的恶化，其中一个表现便是勇敢捍卫人权的中国公民遭受更严厉的打压。

२०१४, में जब भारतीय जनता पार्टी सत्ता में आई, तब विश्व हिन्दू परिषद् के पूर्व अध्यक्ष प्रवीन तोगड़िया ने कहा कि उनकी संस्था भारत को १००% हिन्दू देश बनाने में कार्य करती रहेगी। पिछले छह वर्षों में हिंदूवादी राष्टवाद के दर्शन को लेकर बयानबाज़ी और भी तेज़ होती जा रही है। उन पुराने कथनों के आधार पर कि सभी भारतीय अपने धर्मों और आस्थाओं के बावजूद हिन्दू है, मुस्लिम लव जिहाद अभियान का डर कि कहीं इस्लामिक प्रभाव मजबूत न हो जाए और मसीहियत को बढ़ाने के लिए पश्चिमी देशों से प्राप्त सहयोग का डर।

विदेशी मिशनरियों के बारे में (गलत) जानकारी, जिसके कारण ऑस्ट्रेलियाई मिशनरी,ग्राहम स्टेंस और उनके दो बेटो की 1999 में उड़ीसा (अब ओडिशा) में भयावह हत्या कर दी गयी, यह ईसाइयों के प्रति संदेह और हिंसा में वृद्धि का चिन्ह है। झारखंड (२०१७),उत्तराखंड (२०१८) और उत्तर प्रदेश (२०२०), और मध्य प्रदेश (२०२१) और गुजरात (२०२१) में मौजूदा कानूनों में कठोर संशोधन करने वाले कानूनों को लागू किया गया, आस्था की सीमाएं बड़ी तेज़ी से राज्य {सरकार} की रूचि में शामिल हो गयी हैं। अन्य राज्यों द्वारा इस रुझान को आगे बढ़ाने की संभावना है, जिसके तहत भारतीय जनता पार्टी (बीजेपी) को राज्यों में होने वाले चुनावों में अधिक वोट पाने की आशा है ।
